This site originally began as Designs By Johnson in 2003 with the full intention of starting my own Web development firm. After working in the industry for a while, that got put on the back burner as I perused other things and the site was converted to more of my own personal blog and portfolio.

The primary focus of Designs By Johnson is to talk about the Web industry as a whole as well as physical fitness which has also become an increasing interest in recent years. Although I tend to focus on these two primary topics, the site is certainly not limited to those.

In 2009 i moved to my new home kylepauljohnson.com. The site has always been my own personal soap box, and my old domain name made it sound more like a business.

The Technology

I have hosted on several different services, and also used a number of different publishing platforms, but I have finally settled in on a few that I have really fell in love with. Kyle Paul Johnson.com was built on the ASP.net 2.0 framework, and is run and managed on Umbraco. This is probably the most robust open source ASP.net based CMS product I have worked with, and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

The site is hosted by Lunarpages Windows hosting and has been for the last couple of years now. They are extremely stable for a shared hosting platform and have only had a couple of down-times. I have been extremely happy with them and would have no problems recommending them to anyone.
